Department of Mechanical Engineering conducts events for both faculty and student. Department organize FDP’s and Conference (ICAMS) for the holistic development of faculties and interaction with the outside world. Student technical event- “Yantrik” is conducted, with several technical activities such as symposiums, design challenges, project expos, paper presentations, and model-making competitions encourage students to apply engineering principles to solve real-world problems. These activities promote innovation, research aptitude, and practical skills while enabling interaction with industry experts, academicians, and peers from other institutions.
Student chapters of the department such as IEEE, ASME, SAE International, and ISTE regularly organize technical workshops, expert lectures, coding contests, design challenges, project exhibitions, paper presentations, and industrial interactions. These activities enhance practical knowledge, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities while fostering professional ethics and networking opportunities.
Through participation in conferences, competitions, certifications, and collaborative projects, students gain hands-on experience, leadership skills, and global exposure. The chapters also encourage research publications, innovation, and entrepreneurship, thereby preparing students to meet contemporary industrial and societal challenges effectively
The SAE India Collegiate Chapter focuses on automotive and mobility engineering. Students design, fabricate, and test vehicles such as formula cars, electric vehicles, and off-road buggies for national competitions. The chapter provides hands-on exposure to vehicle dynamics, powertrain systems, and sustainable transportation technologies. Team-based projects cultivate leadership, project management, and real-world engineering skills.
Activities: Vehicle design competitions, automotive workshops, testing and analysis
Outcomes: Practical automotive expertise and teamwork skills
The ISTE Chapter emphasizes quality technical education and holistic development of students and faculty. It conducts faculty development programs, seminars, research discussions, and soft-skill training sessions. The chapter promotes innovative teaching methods, academic excellence, and continuous professional growth. It also supports career guidance and entrepreneurship initiatives.
Activities: FDPs, seminars, skill development programs, research forums
Outcomes: Improved teaching-learning practices and professional development
The ISHRAE Student Chapter focuses on Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, Refrigeration (HVAC&R), and sustainable building technologies. It provides specialized knowledge in thermal comfort systems, energy-efficient cooling, refrigeration cycles, indoor air quality, and green building practices. The chapter conducts expert lectures, HVAC design workshops, energy audits, and industrial visits to HVAC plants and cold storage facilities.
Students gain practical exposure to system design, load calculations, energy conservation techniques, and environmental standards. The chapter promotes awareness of sustainability and energy management, preparing students for careers in building services, refrigeration, and climate control industries.
Activities: HVAC design workshops, plant visits, energy audits, technical seminars
Outcomes: Expertise in HVAC&R systems, sustainability practices, and energy-efficient technologies
The ASME Student Chapter strengthens core mechanical engineering knowledge through design, analysis, and fabrication activities. It encourages students to work in areas such as thermal systems, manufacturing, robotics, and product development. Technical workshops, CAD/CAE training, and model-building competitions enable experiential learning and problem-solving. The chapter fosters creativity, teamwork, and professional competence.
Activities: CAD/CAE training, fabrication projects, technical fests, industry visits
Outcomes: Enhanced design capability and practical engineering knowledge
The IEEE Student Chapter promotes innovation and technical excellence in electrical, electronics, and computing domains. Department has IEEE Robotics & Automation Society & IEEE Systems council. It provides a platform for students to explore emerging areas such as artificial intelligence, IoT, embedded systems, robotics, and communication technologies. Regular workshops, coding competitions, hackathons, and expert lectures enhance practical exposure and research aptitude. Participation in conferences and technical events strengthens professional networking and industry readiness.
Activities: Workshops, hackathons, seminars, paper presentations
Outcomes: Strong technical skills, innovation mindset, research exposure
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Chapter functions as a technical and professional forum that promotes awareness of national standards, quality assurance, and product certification practices among students and faculty. It facilitates training programs, workshops, and expert lectures on standardization, testing methods, and safety regulations. The chapter encourages participation in standard formulation activities, quality improvement projects, and industry–academia collaboration. Through these initiatives, it develops competence in compliance, reliability, and best engineering practices aligned with national and global standards.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering newsletters with name Yantrik, cover activities such as workshops, industrial visits, seminars, conferences, placement drives, start-up initiatives, patents, and social outreach programs. It also includes alumni success stories and industry perspectives that motivate students and strengthen the institute’s professional network. Digital versions are widely circulated to ensure broader reach, sustainability, and timely updates.
Newsletters- Yantrik and Magazines- Mechazine, publications provide students with opportunities to express their creativity, technical knowledge, and editorial skills through articles, project reports, case studies, expert interviews, and industry insights. By contributing content, learners enhance their writing, analytical thinking, teamwork, and documentation abilities—skills that are essential for professional growth.
